After several virtual sessions of DSC events at Obong University, the club held an Info-Session, its first live event on 2nd December 2020. Past events included Android Study Jams, Tech talk, Lunch time out.
Kufre Hanson, a Chemical Engineer/Digital Marketer, spoke on "The 5 G's of digital marketing". Ekemini Williams, a Cyber Security Expert/Gray Heart Hacker spoke on information security. Tabitha Kavyu, a former DSC lead, University of Nairobi joined via video link from Nairobi. She spoke on "Imposter syndrome", how to recognize and deal with it. Patrick Inyangetoh, Manager Operations @StartHub/Co-lead Google Business Group, Uyo rounded off the event. He spoke on "building an inclusive community".
The DSC lead, Obong University, Mfonido Mark welcomed participants and encouraged students from all disciplines to be part of DSC at Obong.
Etimbuk Udo, lead facilitator, Android Study Jams and Roselyn Benard today's event planner, enjoined students to take advantage of this google platform to hone skills for community development.
Google DSC helps students bridge the gap between theory and practice. DSCs are university based community groups for students interested in Google developer technologies. By joining a DSC, students grow their knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning environment and build solutions for local businesses and their community.
